Social policy as a productive factor

The 30th Conference of the International Working Party on Labour Market Segmentation will take place 3-5 September 2009 in Tampere. Deadline for abstract submission: 13 March.
The conference will be organised under the heading “Social policy as a productive factor", and will be organized jointly by the University of Tampere, Department of Social Sciences and the LabourNet, a Graduate School on Work and Welfare Studies. The Conference will take place on September 3-5 2009 in Tampere, at the Hotel Rosendahl.
There are five main streams:
1. Reinventing the theoretical and political status of labour market segmentation theory
2. The changing role of social policies as carriers of equity and efficiency
3. Emerging systems of work and welfare
4. Employee voice, trade unions, works councils and social movements
5. Economic risks, risk management and employment protection
