Reassessing the Nordic Welfare Model – Final International Conference
21-22 August 2012, Oslo
A Nordic Centre of Excellence in Welfare Research – "REASSESS" (www.reassess.no) – has since 2007 investigated whether five Nordic welfare societies (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden) succeed in living up to the idea of a distinct Nordic Welfare Model. The overarching research question for the centre is whether these countries are able to reconcile economic effectiveness and social inequality.
Deadline for submission of full paper: 1 August 2012
Programme
In the morning on 21 August there will be an open seminar organised by the Nordic Research Network on Marketisation in Eldercare (Normacare) www.normacare.net. Registration will take place before lunch and the conference programme proper will start at 1pm on Tuesday 21 August. To give room for presentation of all the accepted papers, there will be conference sessions the whole day on Wednesday 22 August (closing at 6pm). A link to the provisional programme can be found at the bottom of this page.
Session format & presentations
In the parallel sessions there are up to six papers to be presented and discussed in 2 hours (or 3 papers in 1 hour). This gives each paper approximately 20 min overall. The author(s) presents her/his own paper. We encourage rather short presentations of 10-12 min to allow some time for questions and comments after the author's presentation. If your paper is placed in a session with less papers, presentations can be slightly longer.
Papers
Papers should be 7000-8000 words long. There are not formal formatting requirements, but you are encouraged to avoid a font size that is less than 11pt. Please remember to state clearly your name and e-mail address on the front page.
Participants with accepted papers are expected to deliver their paper to miah.schoyen@nova.no no later than 1 August. If we have not received your contribution by this deadline, we may remove your presentation from the programme.
Conference Venue
The Conference will take place at OSLO QUALITY HOTEL 33 (close to public transport and the Edward Munch Museum).
Instructions on how to get there are posted here: http://nova.no/id/25059.0
Registration
It is no longer possible to register for this event.
There is no conference fee.
Hotel Booking
Accepted paper givers and invited guests should have received a personal communication with instructions on how to book accommodation.
If you have made a room reservation, but for some reason have to withdraw, it is essential that you CANCEL your booking. Please note that REASSESS cannot cover your expenses in case of late cancellation or no show.
